Root Canal vs. Implant Options

At Valley Endodontics Root Canal & Implant Dentistry we pride ourselves in providing our patients the information necessary to make an informed decision in choosing between preserving their natural tooth through Root Canal Therapy or an Extraction and replacing the tooth through Dental Implant Therapy.  Dr. Brian Wilson is an Endodontic Specialist who by providing both advanced root canal and surgical implant treatment options  is able to provide an unbiased evaluation and recommendation as to which treatment option is best for the patient.

Patients today have more options than ever before to treat and preserve their natural teeth. Understanding your choices and their impact on your future dental health and lifestyle is important.

We believe that preserving ones own natural tooth in a healthy, functional and esthetic state should always be considered as the first choice.  Although dentistry has provided significant advances in replacing teeth, nothing looks, feels and functions as well as a natural tooth due to it’s unique ability to preserve and support the surrounding jaw bone and gum tissues.

With the advancements in technology such as the surgical operating microscopes and 3 Dimensional Cone Beam Imaging (CBCT) we have the ability to successfully treat and preserve the health, function and esthetics of many teeth with root canal therapy and other advanced treatment options.  As an endodontic specialist for over 15 years this path has had an extremely high success rate in allowing patients the ability to retain their own natural dentition.  If you have been told that a tooth or multiple teeth need to be extracted, our practice may be able to offer an alternative that may be more conservative and cost effective than an extraction and dental implant.  Our practice will provide you with a thorough examination to determine if preserving your natural tooth will provide the best long-term outcome or if extracting and replacing your tooth with an implant, bridge or denture is a preferred option.

Our advanced knowledge in both root canal and implant dentistry is a valuable resource in helping patients make decisions between preserving their natural tooth or extraction & dental implant therapy. An accurate examination at our office will help determine if preserving your natural tooth through root canal treatment has a good long-term prognosis or if extracting and replacing your tooth is a better option.  When a natural tooth can not be treated and preserved, then the option of replacing the tooth with a dental implant should be considered

This level of treatment and care allows Valley Endodontics and Implant Dentistry to be a unique and valuable practice in the Willamette Valley area.
